INTERIOR STYLING
Property staging is an important part of interior photography. Traditionally, property styling is used in the preparation of a private residence for sale in the real estate marketplace.
Interior styling is also by interior designers: it is standard to commission a stylist to assist with the staging of the room or even an entire house before a photoshoot.
The task of the interior stylist is, where necessary, the redecoration, arrangement of furniture, and cleaning along with introducing aesthetic strategies to present the home in its best possible light.
chalet snowfall
Chalet Snowfall is located in the Swiss alpine ski resort of La Tzoumaz where it is managed by Chalet La Luge Mountain Holidays.
The property had been recently acquired by the new owners. As the winter ski season was fast approaching, Chalet Snowfall needed to be ready for photos. Even they had not had the time to do any major redecorations, they still wanted to present the property for the holiday rental market.
In such a situation, a stylist can bring a fresh feeling to a property as well as highlight its best features.
Using props that belonged to both the stylist, Claudia Tomkinson, and to Haute'Xposure, Chalet Snowfall was transformed into a welcoming, cosy ski chalet.
Vases of flowers, bundles of books as well as candles (all which were fireproof and chalet-friendly) added to that feeling of lived-in luxury. The chalet owners had the chalet's linen and bath towels tagged with their logo; this was obviously a key element to capture in this photoshoot.
The ultimate stylist's project was of course the breakfast table. Claudia created a cornucopia with a bag of oranges, a couple of croissants and so many candles and flowers. I hope the guests are able to enjoy such a breakfast before their day's skiing.
