Warming up Interiors
As the days of spring became warmer and the evenings longer, our lives start to move outside to benefit from this shift in season. One of last summer’s interior design photoshoot was spent photographing the indoor as well as the outdoor space. The project was created by the international designer, Anastasia Jurgelis of AJ Design, in the French ski resort, Courchevel.
Anastasia gave this stunning new build property a simple, luxurious finish with its fine detailing of natural materials. The premise of the project was to decorate the chalet so that it would work both as a family and rental friendly home.
open air
On the first floor, the living areas flow around a central point of the fireplace with living room spanning the width of the house providing exceptional mountain views across from Courchevel 1550. The colour palette chosen by AJ Design for this project had hints of warm tropical oceans and golden sands to carry us away from the cold Courchevel winters. Creating a break between the kitchen and dining area at the back of the house is a breakfast bar; perfect for being in both worlds.
Sit down and relax
Downstairs, a spa/yoga/fitness room offers a space to escape and recover whether it is from a day of intense skiing or hiking, or from the rest of the family. A sauna and hammam to soothe those exhausted muscles and calm the mind. Just off the spa area, the outdoor area of this chalet is another opportunity to kick back a relax. Anastasia had dressed the outdoor eating and barbecue area so attractively; it almost took away from the distracting views.
to the top
At the top of the house, three bedrooms including the principal complete the chalet. Again the warm golden, tan tones give the guest room a comforting, warming feel; while the principal bedroom felt fresh and airy with its green bedlinen and an awe-inspiring view to start the day.
elegant calm
It is always a pleasure to return to previous projects for these blog posts and be reminded of the ambience of a space. My memories of this house was its warmth and elegance wrapped in repose. Honestly, I could also describe Anastasia in the same words.
The property is managed by White Management in Courchevel and is available for summer and winter rentals. Please contact them directly but do mention I sent you.
