My overriding memory of this interior photoshoot in Verbier, Switzerland wasn't the amazing snowfall and trekking through all the snow with my camera gear but the Grizzly Bear.

A big brown bear stares down at you as you enter the living space; for the duration of this photoshoot, I felt observed in my every movement. Fortunately, Claire Houchin of Nutshell Interiors is warm and welcoming with a little bit of inspiration from the atmospheric light.

A complete renovation of a Verbier apartment is a considerable project which took several years. The living space is calm and cosy with deep, white fluffy chairs surrounding a curved fireplace. Similar to many ski apartments, the kitchen, dining and living space flow into each other. Claire used local artisans such as Besson Menuiserie for the carpentry throughout the property.

One of the highlights of this interior renovation by Claire is the wine fridge as you walk into the apartment. A wall of wood and wine greets you full of promise for the evening in front of the fire.

Each bedroom has a different focus. In two of the guest bedrooms, sumptuous wallpaper brings depth and character: one room is papered in a dark, textured wallpaper the other with a white and deep purple Rorschach-like design.

As a bunk room, the third guest room is an excellent example of local craftsmanship but what makes this room special is the ski rack. Come those powder days, you are up and out on first bins! Love it.

The principal bedroom is slightly more traditional; the wall facing the bed is decorated with an enormous vintage, circular mirror that was originally a wok pan. This riveted mirror hangs above a deep teal set of drawers has a masculine essence to this gorgeous space. One of the vignettes taken of this room was focused through the mirror looking back at the deep blue, textured headboard.
