hometown
I was born in London; and since then have lived in lots of different cities around Europe. For more than 15 years, I have now been living in Switzerland working as an interior photographer.
The majority of my interior photography projects are based throughout Switzerland: locally in the canton of Valais; but also in Geneva, Zurich and as far as St Moritz. I have also travel frequently to photograph for clients in France, both in the mountains resorts such as Chamonix and Courchevel as well as in the south-west of the country.
However, it is a personal sense of achievement to have been asked to photograph in my hometown of London with the talented duo of Manon and Lauren at MALA Interior in both Notting Hill and Chiswick.
hidDEN in the hills
Notting Hill always was a party part of town when I was growing up. Dinner and drinks at Beach Blanket Babylon, Drum 'n' Bass at Subterania, and then Woodies was the last port of call if we dared to step out of our natural habitat: Chelsea and Knightsbridge.
It was real excitement when MALA Interior commissioned Haute'Xposure for this interior photoshoot. Nostalgia took over, especially as this project was located in a classic white stucco villa so typical of this part of London.
The high ceilings and the large shuttered bay window of the original sitting room gave this pied-à-terre a spacious living and dining area. Filled with light, this was a very different experience to photographing wooden, Swiss chalets.
MALA Interior created a relaxing, London crash pad; a place that is perfect to hid away from the buzz of the city but also just large enough to entertain.
Never blue
The Notting Hill project designed by the Swiss/UK based design team, MALA Interior, also included two bedrooms. Each room has a very individual character which is further enhanced by the natural lighting.
The first bedroom is smaller but using the colour drenching technique doesn't feel it. Golden ochre accents and a deep petrol blue with a hint of grey envelope this room. crowned with a glass pendant lamp.
Walking to the back of this apartment, the light floods in through the french doors. Painted with a soft white, the William Morris accent wall features the rest of the colour palette. The same tone of blue, but slightly lighter and brighter, is repeated in the cushions alongside a dark red headboard and throw.
bedford park
Although I grew up as a West London girl, I will admit that I never really got as far out as Chiswick. It was all a bit too nice and quaint for me back then. These days, Chiswick is more like my kind of town: lovely shops, cute little cafes, the treelined common and of course the Queen Anne Revival villas .
Similar to Notting Hill, MALA Interior created an interior design that enhances the traditional features of a period house with modern contemporary features. Enhancing the beautiful box bay window in this Queen Anne Revival home, dove grey curtains frame the glittering diamond panes of glass. Those grey metallics soften the strong golds in the mirror and picture frames as well as the contemporary console table in the entrance hall. A dash of royal blue is dotted around the room in the carpet, cushions and comfy chairs.
To paint the summer morning.
With the morning light streaming through the balcony door, this is the perfect room to wake up, step out of bed onto the Juliette balcony and look out across Turnham Green You might just feel that you're not really in London.
Soft neutrals with a hint of blush are the palette choice for a selection of luxurious silken materials and thick faux fur throws. A demure sumptuousness fills this bedroom; a place to wrap up and cocoon.
